HOODIE DAY
What is Hoodie Day? Hoodie Day occurs every year on January 5th and is a time to celebrate one of the refinements of mankind, the hoodie. Hooded sweatshirts are commonly worn around the world year-round and some people even wear hoodies daily. Hoodie Day is merely a set day of recognition for this gift. There are many holidays that celebrate things that could be celebrated at any time throughout the year. Examples include Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, Thanksgiving, Crossword Puzzle Day, Hoodie-Hoo Day, etc. (See more commonly celebrated holidays at Holidays.net.) Hoodie Day is merely an addition to this list. |

How can I celebrate Hoodie Day? The best
way to celebrate Hoodie Day is to wear a hoodie. Many, however, show
their love for the hoodie in additional ways; donating hoodies, throwing
parties, making cakes, drawing pictures, writing poems, creating murals,
singing songs, and taking photos. If you plan on celebrating Hoodie
Day, I would be honored to post any material that you send me. (Please

How can I get others to celebrate Hoodie Day? For starters you can tell them about it. Unfortunately, very few people know about this wonderful holiday. To get the word out, feel free to print and hand out or hang up flyers. (Flyers and other promotional materials can be found using these links.) Other ways include word of mouth, e-mails, letters, etc. Ideally there will soon be Hoodie Love shirts available to aid in the promotional efforts. If you choose to promote Hoodie Day, be sure to do so responsibly and sensibly. Good luck! |

Has anyone actually celebrated Hoodie Day or did you just make this up? January 5th, 2004 was the first day that Hoodie Day was held. Cookies, a song, a video, a drawing, and even a cake, were made. Photos were taken and everyone enjoyed themselves. Be sure to check out the 2004 and 2005 galleries and don't forget to celebrate the hoodie again this year. |

Why does Hoodie Day take place on January 5th? January is a perfect mid-point for hoodie season because it is in between the autumn and spring months, which arethe beginning and ends of hoodie season. January 5th was also once someone's birthday but in an effort to get people to recognize the glory of the hoodie, this person traded their birthday for Hoodie Day. |
